For my CAS PROJECT I created an EP. An EP (short for extended play) is a musical recording that contains more music than a single, but is usually too short to qualify as a full studio album. This EP will include 6 songs.

PHASE 1: INVESTIGATION When we were introduced to the idea of CAS projects, I knew I was going to do something related to music. I thought about some of the things I could do related to music, leading a choir, creating an album, playing for community and service. It was in Boston at a 5 week music program were I decided to do a collaboration music album. So impressed with the diversity of cultures and languages at Berklee, I chose to collaborate with different musicians. Back in Lima, I started looking for people interested in being part of the project. I chose people that share the same passion for music as I do. I started asking them if they wanted to play music, it was very simple. I would get together with each person and search for songs that could represent our favourite styles of music. Not only would I be avidly contributing my time to creating music (creativity) but also serving people with my music. In Boston we had the chance to play in cafes and bars, still, that wasn't enough, I needed to include service as part of the project. This is why I decided to pair up with Wish Factory and perform some of the songs to the sick kids from Hospital Rebagliati.
PHASE 2: PREPARATION Once I had the songs with the respective musicians,I printed out sheet music and began to get together with each band at my home studio to practice the songs. My project would run over the course of May, June, July, and August and I would know that I was successful if I recorded at least six recordings. The recording and production process would be the last part. When it comes to music and practicing, I didn't really have a plan or an agenda, I would just talk to my friends via FaceBook and we would come to an agreement to get together on a specific date.
PHASE 3: ACTION Soon after I had practiced several times, I had to begin the recording process. I used my living room as a recording studio. I used GarageBand as an editing software. It was very easy to record once we weren't focused on achieving perfection but achieving collaboration through music. By recording with different people I was able to expand my knowledge and collaboration skills as a musician.
PHASE 4: DEMONSTRATION In order to share my music, i created an album in SoundCloud and shared it with my friends and family.
The objective of this project was to collaborate with other musicians. Not only has this improved my skills as a musician by working collaboratively with others but it has also allowed me to understand the different styles and unique qualities these musicians have. Also, Ive been trying to stick to the genres of Folk, Latin and Reggae, this will probably be the type of music I will create in my career as a musician.
